PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejecting device for providing an ink jet recording head or the like that prevents nozzles from clogging, is influenced little on ejection of ink droplets, and has a long service life, and also to provide a ink jet printer using the ejecting device. SOLUTION: The liquid ejecting device sets its liquid surface location to two different locations in a liquid channel consisting of a nozzle and a feeding passage corresponding to the nozzle, when the device is driven or stored, and the locations (z=z1 and z2) satisfy a following equation (1), ä2Tcos(α(z)+β(z))}/r(z)=Pa-Pl, wherein z represents the liquid surface location in the liquid channel, T a surface tension of the liquid,α(z) a contact angle formed by the liquid and an inner wall surface of the liquid channel,β(z) a shape change in the liquid channel, r(z) a radius of the liquid channel, Pl inner pressure of the liquid, and Pa the atmospheric pressure, respectively.
