The system comprises a seat shell 2, a restraint in the form of a play table 6 and seat belt 7, and air bags 14 - 16 mounted in the seat shell. A further air bag 17 is mounted in the play table. A weight sensor 18 and an infra red sensor 19 are provided to determine the size of the child.
