<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device for high quality printing which allows the fine inspection of printed matters per page and detects and excludes defective printed matters. <P>SOLUTION: A prescribed print character which is printed on a form and different by pages or fixed is recognized and decoded and converted to a character code, and the character code is compared and collated with a character code printed to determine whether a printed matter is good or not, and a threshold of a recognition rate, recognition strength or the like is set to the inspection device beforehand when recognizing and decoding the print character, and an unreadable code is outputted in the case that it is not a threshold designated by recognizing and decoding image data of characters or the like read from a camera.
