<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which generates no shift between image formation areas on top and reverse sides, especially, in both-surface printing by equalizing the distances from both ends of recording paper to an image formation area. <P>SOLUTION: On a recording paper conveyance path along which the recording paper 20 is conveyed, a form end detecting means capable of detecting both the ends of the recording paper 20 during the conveyance is arranged in a direction perpendicular to the recording paper conveyance direction, and based upon detection information from the form end detecting means, the width-directional center of the recording paper 20 is calculated to make the width-directional center of the image formation area meet the width-directional center of the recording paper 20. In both-surface printing, widths of the recording paper 20 on the top and reverse sides are compared by a storage means of storing the detection information from the form end detecting means to perform magnification error correction based upon the found shrinkage rate of the recording paper 20, and the width-directional center of the recording paper 20 is calculated to perform image formation control. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
