PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an intense light from being projected on a place, where light need not be projected and to prevent a human body from being irradiated with the intense light. SOLUTION: A projector 1 projects laser light to display an image. A safety card 401 arranged on a screen 32 calculates the distance between the safety card 401 and a communication device 14, based on a signal sent from the communication device 14 and calculates the distance between the safety card 11 and a controller 13 provided on the projector 1, based on a signal sent from the controller 13 to compute the position of the safety card 401 based on the two calculated distances, thereby transmitting a signal indicating the position of the safety card 401 to the controller 13. The controller 13 receives the signal from the safety card 401 and allows a light displaying the image to be projected on the screen 32, when the position of the safety card 401 contained in the signal is in the direction to the screen 32.
