PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper garment so designed as to cause no strain at its back part to improve mobility of the arms of a wearer when moving her (his) arms up and down or putting them forward when worn without spoiling the original appearance of the upper garment. SOLUTION: The upper garment 100 has the following structure: pleats 130 are formed at parts adjacent to the armholes of a back lining fabric 120 of the upper garment 100 so as to spread out the pleats when moving her (his) arms up and down or putting them forward when worn to release the strain of the back part; stretchable members 140 are sewn up to both ends of the spread pleats 130 so as to easily restore the original folded state and fix up the appearance of the back lining fabric 120.
