<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing the plant raw material, capable of shortening a time of processing the raw material, such as tea dregs, containing a polyphenol and capable of preventing propagation of various bacteria, by preventing decrease in a polyphenol content. <P>SOLUTION: This method for processing the plant raw material comprises putting the plant raw material, such as the tea dregs, into a digestion processing apparatus 11 composed of a pressure vessel, etc., supplying the apparatus with steam having a temperature of about 120-220°C, digesting the raw material for about 3-30 min under a high-temperature and high-pressure condition, and blasting the digested material in a high-temperature and high-pressure state obtained from the digesting processing, by rapidly releasing pressure of the apparatus in a short time of about several sec. The blasted plant raw material of which the plant tissue is fractured is formed into a slurry state to be easily handled. Further, the material contains a decomposition product of a polymer compound, such as lignin, contained in a plant cell. Therefore, a polyphenol-containing composition which is sterilized in a short time is obtained, by preventing the decrease in the polyphenol content caused by thermal decomposition of tea catechin, etc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
