PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an operation mode at the time of power-on to an operation mode most suitable for a user in accordance with, especially, a state of a display panel part. SOLUTION: A digital camera 1 has a display panel part 22 made openable/closable and rotatable to a main body part 11. A state detection part of the digital camera 1 detects at least one of the open/close state and the rotation state of the display panel part 22, and a mode setting part sets an operation mode of the digital camera 1 at the time of power-on in accordance with the detected state of the display panel part 22.
