PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biochip reader capable of sufficiently attenuating reflected excitation light used as background light. SOLUTION: The biochip reader is so constituted that a sample is irradiated with an excitation light, the fluorescence emitted from a fluorescent substance in the sample is formed into images via the image forming optical system to read the image by a photodetector.
