FLAME RETARDANT, MANUFACTURING PROCESS THEREFOR AND FLAME RETARDANT FIBER FABRIC

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame retardant which gives a sufficient flame retardance, does not give off toxic gases on fire or incineration and is excellent in dispersion stability and coating stability. SOLUTION: At least a part of the surface of thermal expansion graphite is coated with a phosphate and a surfactant. A particularly preferable constitution is that the part of the surface of thermal expansion graphite is coated with a surfactant layer via a phosphate layer. The manufacturing process of the flame retardant having this kind of constitution comprises coating an organic solvent containing a dissolved phosphate on the thermal expansion graphite, coating an organic solvent containing a dissolved surfactant and drying the solvents.
