PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label peeling mechanism securely feeding printed labels without causing troubles such as paper jams, and also to provide a label printer having the label peeling mechanism. SOLUTION: This label peeling mechanism 20 comprises: a guide 21 for bending a base having a projected bending surface 21a for bending the long base 8 having a label 7 stuck on the surface 8a thereof to a rear surface side by up to 90°; an upstream side base retaining guide 23 facing a guide surface portion 21c on the upstream side more than the bending surface 21a of the guide 21 for bending the base; and a downstream side base retaining guide 24 facing a guide surface portion 21e on the downstream side more than the bending surface 21a of the guide 21 for bending the base. A plurality of ribs 31 disposed at intervals in the lateral direction of the base 8 crossingly perpendicular to the carrying direction thereof are formed on the upstream side base retaining guide 23. A plurality of guide rollers 32 disposed at intervals in the lateral direction of the base 8 crossingly perpendicular to the carrying direction thereof are installed on the downstream side base retaining guide 24.
