An aid for hand knitting, crochet or netting work, consists of a base plate (2) with a parallel slot (3) with rounded ends (6). Pegs (5) are fitted into the plate (2) in alternating positions equally spaced along both edges (4a, 4b) of the slot (3), one side having an even number and the other side an odd number of pegs. The tops (5a) of the pegs are rounded or bevelled. The base plate (2) is rectangular, e.g. with a proportion of 6 to 1. The base plate and pegs are made of wood or plastic, e.g. made in one piece by injection molding. The slot edges (4a, 4b) are rounded or chamfered to prevent damage to the fabric as it passes through. The base plate can include fittings so that it can be held on a table top or pressed against a table edge by the body of the user.
