The bending angle formed by bending the workpiece (3) is measured by irradiating light beam on to the bending line. If the determined bending angle exceeds a preset value, then correction bending is carried out. The penetration depth of bending tool (5) is adjusted depending on the deviation of the bending angle from preset value. An Independent claim is also included for device for determining relative position of workpiece with bending tool.
