<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical stapling and severing instrument particularly suited to endoscopic procedures. <P>SOLUTION: This surgical stapling and severing instrument (310) incorporates a handle (326) that produces separate closing and firing motions to actuate an end effector.
