PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulation substrate wherein wirings narrow in width and thick in film thickness are formed into an optional plane shape, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the insulation substrate which is low in power consumption and high in aperture ratio. SOLUTION: A concave groove 5 along the pattern of a thin film wiring is formed on the surface of the insulation substrate 1 and banks 2 having side walls opposed to each other on the both sides of the thin film wiring and extending along the both edges of the concave groove 5 are provided. The surface of the concave groove 5 has lyophilic properties to a wiring material ink and the surface of the bank 2 has lyophobic properties to the wiring material ink. The liquid crystal display of low power consumption having the wiring having narrow width and thick film thickness and high numerical aperture can be provided by using the thin film wiring as at least one wiring of gate and data wirings of a liquid crystal panel.
