PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal device in which an image transmitting mode and an image receiving mode can be set selectively at any time of transmission and reception with a slave unit configuration uncomplicated. SOLUTION: In performing telephone conversation by using the slave unit 2, when facsimile communication is dictated to start from the slave unit 2 to a base unit 1, if a manuscript is not set in a manuscript scanning section 11 or even if having been set, after a certain period of time since having been set, a facsimile receiving mode is set.
