PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely measure the length of an optical fiber in a hybrid transmission line, in which various kinds of optical fibers are combined, using an OTDR. SOLUTION: A group index (n), used as a setting value when measuring the length of the optical fiber 11 by the OTDR 10, is obtained from respective group indexes nsmf, ndcf that are weighted by length ratios Psmf, Pdcf, respectively, of a single-mode fiber and a dispersion compensated fiber for composing the hybrid transmission line.
