PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing unit having low cost, high durability and long-time stability and being suitable for measuring a load. SOLUTION: The bearing unit comprises at least two lines of rolling bearings each having an inner ring, an outer ring, a rolling element, and a synthetic resin cage, one of the inner and outer rings being a rotary ring and the other being a fixed ring. To the synthetic resin cage, an encoder is mechanically joined which is formed of a plastic magnet material and multipole-magnetized in the circumferential direction.
