摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield method and a tunnel excavation device capable of carrying out excavation work at low cost by avoiding such a situation that an expensive segment can be used only for securing propulsive reaction force in the shield method. SOLUTION: An excavator 2 and an approximately cylindrical drum section 1 having a jack 4 are installed in a place to be excavated, excavations are carried out by the excavator 2, a plurality of strut-shaped driving force transfer members 5 are connected to form driving force transfer bodies 40, and they are arranged between the jack 4 and a driving force receiving member 3. The jack 4 is driven to make the driving force received by the driving force receiving member 3 through the driving force transfer bodies 40 to propel the drum section 1 in the excavating direction C. A tunnel is excavated by successively repeating such a process while gradually lengthening the driving force transfer bodies 40. It is sufficient if the strut-shaped driving force transfer members 5 as things for thereby propelling the drum section 1 are used, and it is no need to use the expensive segment.
