PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent chips generated by a cutting blade from contacting a workpiece. SOLUTION: A grooving tool 10 which cuts the outer peripheral surface of the workpiece W rotating around an axis line O is provided with a chip discharge means for discharging the chips W1 generated by the cutting blade 24 to a lower surface 15 side of a tool main body 11. The chip discharging means is made to be a hole part 30 composed of an insert side hole part 31 formed on the insert 20 and a tool main body side hole part 32 formed on the tool main body 11. The tool is provided with a chip parting means for parting the chips W1 discharged to the lower surface 15 side of the tool main body 10 in the lengthwise direction. The chip parting means is made to be a spiral shaped guide plate 33. The rake face 23A of the cutting blade 24 is formed to be a recessed shape in the section along in a groove width direction.
