<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a proper criterion in consideration of variation of sensitivity or performance in an individual device. <P>SOLUTION: This recording medium carrying device has a sensor 2 comprising a light emission means 3 irradiating light of a certain wavelength range onto a recording medium carrying path 1 and a light reception means 4 receiving light emission or fluorescence of a record information part 5a, irradiates the light of a ceratin wavelength range on the record information part 5a formed on a recording medium 5 carried near the light emission means 3 and the light reception means 4, receives the light from the record information part 5a by the light reception means 4, and performs distinction of the kind of the recording medium 5 or decision of genuineness of the recording medium 5 on the basis of detection output thereof. The recording medium carrying device is provided with a threshold value adjustment mechanism irradiating the light of a certain wavelength range on a frame 6 forming the recording medium carrying path 1 when the recording medium 5 is absent near the light emission means 3 and the light reception means 4, receiving reflected light thereof by the light reception means 4, and adjusting a threshold value level of detection output on the basis of light reception output thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
