LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of being made low in profile and cost and having excellent optical characteristics.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device having a plurality of pixels PX arranged in a matrix is equipped with: a liquid crystal display panel LPN in which a liquid crystal layer LQ is held between an array substrate AR and a counter substrate CT arranged facing each other; a first polarization controlling element POL1 disposed on an outer surface of the array substrate AR opposite to the surface holding the liquid crystal layer LQ; and a second polarization controlling element POL2 disposed on an outer surface of the counter substrate CT opposite to the surface holding the liquid crystal layer LQ. The liquid crystal display device is characterized in that the liquid crystal layer LQ contains liquid crystal molecules 40 homogeneously aligned in a direction different from a reference direction with the vertical direction (Y-axis) of the screen as the reference direction.
