PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorption member capable of having an energy absorbing performance while being lightweight and having high stiffness. SOLUTION: The energy absorption member 1 comprises first and second surface materials 2 and 4, and a core material 3 composed of a resin foamed material. The core material 3 is sandwiched between the first surface material 2 and second surface material 4, and the core material 3 and the first and second surface materials 2 and 4 are joined with each other. Non-joined sections not joining between the core material 3 and the first and second surface materials 2 and 4 are respectively provided on joined sections between the core material 3 and the first and second surface materials 2 and 4 so that recessed sections 3a are formed on the surfaces of the core material 3 respectively joined with the first and second surface materials 2 and 4.
