A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which a thin film of a cathode active material containing a metal occluding/releasing lithium is formed on a collector, and the thin film of this cathode active material is separated into columnar shapes by a cut line, and which can control a reaction or the like between the cathode active material and a non-aqueous electrolyte and provide a high charge/discharge capacity and excellent charge/discharge cycle characteristics. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises cathode (2) having a thin film of a cathode active material (2a) containing a metal occluding/releasing lithium that is formed on a collector (2b) and is separated into columnar shapes by a cut line (2c) formed in a thickness direction, an anode (1) using an anode active material for occluding/releasing lithium, and a non-aqueous electrolyte, in which lithium salt is dissolved in a non-aqueous solvent, wherein a carbonate compound having a fluorine-bonded alkyl radical is contained in the non-aqueous electrolyte.
