Method for embossing of materials having an intermediate strength

To structure a length of a material with a medium tensile strength, and especially leather, a number of recesses (3) are made in the surface without piercing through it, using a punch die plate (4) with projections (5). The material (1) is cut to the dimensions of the punch die plate and covered with a lamination (2) on the reverse side with an adhesive bonding, before the recesses are embossed. The recesses are embossed at a pressure of at least 20 bar at least at a temperature of 60[deg]C and preferably under 80 bar at 100[deg]C for at least 20 seconds and preferably 120 seconds. The recesses penetrate through at least 20% of the material thickness with a maximum of 80%.
