An optical connector assembly has several optical 125, 175 and electrical connectors 10, 20 mounted in mateable rectangular housings 1 and 2. Each optical connector is resiliently mounted in an alignment sleeve 25, 75 by means of a spring clip 37, 90 encircling the connector and contacting the sleeve. The alignment sleeves are themselves resiliently mounted in passages 15, 65 through the housings by spring clips 21, 71 encircling the sleeves and contacting passages within which the sleeves are mounted. One end of one alignment sleeve 75 is adapted for insertion into one end of another alignment sleeve 25. As shown, housings 1, 2 each have front and rear parts. Alignment sleeve 25 may have a rear part (26, Fig 2) and a forward part (27, Fig 2) and the rear part maybe press-fitted into the forward part. Similarly, alignment sleeve 75 may have a rear part (76, Fig 4) and a forward part (77, Fig 4). Clips 37, 90 may have tines (39, Fig 2), 92. |
