Bulk fuel feed mechanism - has metering unit with sections containing conveyors working alternately in opposite directions

The feed mechanism is for fuel in bulk, and has a metering unit whose housing is divided into sections. Each of these contains a conveyor belt for the material, the belts in different sections being driven in opposite directions. The fuel is delivered into the unit housing through the top, whilst an outlet at the bottom discharged into a conveyor below. The housing (3) of the metering unit (1) is divided into three or more sections (6,7,8,9), each with its conveyor belt, and the belts in one set of sections (6,7) work in the opposite direction to those of the others (8,9) which alternate with them. A common drive (20,21) is provided for each of the sets of sections whose belts work in the same direction, and has output shafts (22,23) driving those of the respective sections (15) via clutches (24), which can be disengaged.
