The fluid pressure operated valve comprises a housing(1) in which there are two openings(14) about an axis of the housing and spaced apart along the axis. An annular valve seat surrounds at least one of the openings. A valve movable within and axially of the housing to and from an end position in which the vlave member(12) engages the vlave seat with one of its opposite faces to close off fluid flow through the valve. A spring(16) acts between the vlave housing and the valve to urge the valve towards a position clear of the valve seat. In this position there are two pressure chambers in the valve housing divided by the valve member.
