PURPOSE:To obtain easily uniform degaussing without causing vibration in a winding body by turning the winding body around its center axis and parting it from a degaussing magnetic field while interlinking an AC magnetic flux for degaussing radially over the entire width of the magnetic tape winding body. CONSTITUTION:The winding body to be degaussed is fitted to a turning pan 3 on a wear plate 2 manually with a flat degaussing coil 1 located at a position 1'. A motor M is started, the flat degaussing coil 1 is advanced forward up to a position shown in solid-lines and stopped, power is applied immediately to a motor N and the flat degaussing coil 1, and the flat degaussing coil 1 is excited by a commercial AC current while turning the turning pan 3 so as to generate an AC magnetic field in the radial direction of the winding body. When the turning pan 3 is turned by >=nearly 1/3-turn, the flat degaussing coil 1 is moved in the direction of 1' so as to give a damped AC magnetic field to the winding body, and the degaussing process is finished when the flat degaussing coil 1 reaches the position 1'. |
