PURPOSE:An effective amount of dichlorophenyltriazine is used to treat useful plants or their seeds whereby chemical injury is reduced without any adverse effect on herbicidal power against undesired weeds. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition for reducing chemical injury of herbicides contains, as an active ingredient, a phenyltriazine of the formula. The composition as a detoxicating agent or protecting agent, is used in an effective amount to treat cultivated plants or their seeds to reduce the chemical injury of a herbicide such as propachlor or chlorsulfuron. The weight ratio of the detoxcating agent to the herbicide is 1:100-10:1, preferably 1:5-8:1 and, in case of seed treatment, 0.1-10g, preferably 1-2g are used per kg of seeds.
