PURPOSE:The titled composition having excellent compatibility, giving a film of good transparency, comprising a specified water-soluble or water-dispersible block copolymer and a water-soluble or water-dispersible protein. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble or water-dispersible block copolymer (A) is obtained by the radical polymerization of a monomer containing ionic groups (e.g. acrylic acid) in the presence of a PVA polymer which contains terminal mercapto groups and is obtained by the saponification of a polyvinyl ester polymer obtained by polymerizing a vinyl ester monomer in the presence of a thiolic acid. Then 90-1wt% component A and 10-99wt% water-soluble or water- dispersible protein (e.g. casein) are compounded. USE:A photographic emulsion, a microcapsule material, a paper converting agent, adhesives, etc.
