PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a test piece holding structure for a material testing machine to enhance work efficiency in test piece fastening. SOLUTION: In this test piece holding structure for a material testing machine (such as a fatigue testing machine) used for making material test by applying a load to a test piece 1, wedges 36 and 39 are provided on extension positions in the loading direction (a vertical direction, for example) of the test piece 1 and between end parts 1A and 1B of the test piece 1 and hold parts 24 and 25 for holding the end parts 1A and 1B. The wedges 36 and 39 are forward/backward movable in a direction (an orthogonal direction, for example) crossing the loading direction.
