PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positron beam device which has a beam strength equal to or more than that when tungsten is used as a moderator, can also generate a slow positron beam whose energy distribution is in a narrow range and allows an alternative to tungsten to be used as a moderator. SOLUTION: A crystallized nickel mesh is used as a moderator 2. It is preferable that the nickel mesh is composed of a nickel solid wire whose diameter is between 1μm and 100μm.
