PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blast furnace main trough having such construction that a skimmer damper separates molten iron and molten slag, and thus the height of an upper surface in a tap-rising part for over-flow of molten iron and the height of an upper surface in a slag-raking part for over-flow of molten slag can be lowered in a short period of time. SOLUTION: The blast furnace main trough 10 is constituted in such a way that the skimmer damper 5 is arranged in the flowing path through which the molten iron 3 and the molten slag 4 flow down, and a molten iron trough into which the molten iron separated with the skimmer damper flows after over-flowing from the tap-rising part 8 and a molten slag trough into which the molten slag separated with the skimmer damper flows after over-flowing from the slag-raking part 6 are arranged side by side, and on the upper surface of the tap-rising part and/or on the upper part of the slag-raking part, a brick-formed body 13 or a pre-cast block is embedded.
