PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication system provided with a structure in which a communication provider side can select distribution service contents that are finally provided to subscriber houses from a terminal station of a communication network through an optical fiber.

SOLUTION: This optical communication system is provided with the terminal station (200) for distributing signal light with a plurality of signal channels multiplexed to a plurality of subscriber houses as a final relay station of a prescribed communication network and an optical fiber network (30) installed between the terminal station (200) and the subscriber houses and having one or a plurality of branch points (300). The terminal station (200) includes an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer (220) for multiplexing the plurality of signal channels included in the signal light, and the branch points (300) are provided with a wavelength selecting means (320) for selecting at least any of multiplexed signal channels in accordance with each distribution service content to a subscriber house included in a distribution target group of the terminal station (200) and distributing the selected distribution channel to the subscriber house.
