<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device with which the information displayed with a reflective mode is made readable, and electronic equipment equipped with the electro-optical device. <P>SOLUTION: In the electro-optical device, each of pixels 50 arranged in a matrix is equipped with sub-pixels 51(R), 51(G), 51(B) for displaying colors and a sub-pixel 51(M) for a monochromatic display, to which a picture signal different from that sent to the sub-pixels for displaying colors is supplied.
