PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visitor notification method and system having excellent operability when a visited person is absent. SOLUTION: The visitor notification system is provided with a receiving intercom 10 having a microphone, a speaker and an IC card reader and a computer 20 capable of storing scheduled visitor information, connected to the receiving intercom 10 and provided with an input device 21 and a communication apparatus 22 for connecting a visitor to a portable terminal 31 owned by a visited person under a prescribed condition. When IC card information or resident card information inputted by a visitor coincides with visitor information previously stored in the computer 20, the computer 20 connects the receiving intercom 10 to the portable terminal 31.
