An air amount estimation device includes models M2 to M7 built according to a physical law. The device estimates pressure Pic and temperature Tic of the air in an intercooler by considering a first energy Ecm given by a supercharger (91) (compressor (91a)) to the air supplied to an intercooler (45) by a compressor model M4 and an intercooler model M5 and a second energy exchanged between the wall of the intercooler and the air in the intercooler. According to the estimated pressure and temperature of the air in the intercooler, an air amount KLfwd in the cylinder at a moment after the current point is estimated.
