LDPC CODE GENERATING METHOD AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS

An LDPC code generating method, which is applicable to a multilevel modulation scheme, for example, classifies the distributions of received signals for each of bit positions of modulation symbols; searches for an order ensemble of parity check matrix (i.e., an ensemble of row and column weights) in which the SNR threshold value (the value of SNR for which the bit error rate abruptly falls when the code length is sufficiently long) is minimized; and generates, based on the order ensemble obtained as the result of that search, a parity check matrix and a generator matrix.
