IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, METHOD AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the discriminative ability of an observer without being affected by a marker captured in a radiation field.

SOLUTION: This image processing apparatus extracts a marker region 104, which includes symbols having low-luminance pixel values in a region wherein no subject 105 is captured and which has high-luminance pixel values, from a medical image 100 obtained by capturing a subject 105; and converts the pixel values of the pixels having the high-luminance pixel values into intermediate pixel values between the high-luminance pixel values and the low-luminance pixel values out of the pixels included in the extracted marker region 104.
