PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable ink jet recorder in which ink is not discarded uselessly at the time of function recovery operation for removing bubbles, thickened ink, and the like, existing in a pressurization liquid chamber. SOLUTION: In the liquid drop ejector comprising a recording head 1 having a plurality of nozzles, an ink tank 7, a pump 8, first and second supply passages L1 and L2 connecting the common liquid chamber 2 of the recording head 1 with the pump 8, and a return channel L3 interconnecting an ink discharge opening 5 and the ink tank 7, the first and second supply passages L1 and L2 are provided with first and second filters F1 and F2, and the second supply passage L2 and the return channel L3 are provided with first and second control valves B1 and B2. When the first control valve B1 is closed and the second control valve B2 is opened, a circulation passage a is formed and ink circulates through the common liquid chamber 2 and returns back to the ink tank 7. When the first control valve B1 is opened and the second control valve B2 is closed, a pressurization passage b is formed and ink is discharged from the nozzle of the recording head 1.
