PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and efficiently producing a ketene silyl acetal which has a perfluoroalkyl group or a polyfluoroalkyl group and in which a carbon at theα-position of the group comprises a quaternary carbon. SOLUTION: This ketene silyl acetal expressed by R<SP>f</SP>(R<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>SiO)C=C(OSiR<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>)(OR<SP>1</SP>) (R<SP>f</SP>is a perfluoroalkyl, a polyfluoroalkyl or a fluoroaklyl; R<SP>1</SP>is H or a monovalent organic group; and R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each a substituted or unsubstituted cyclic or acyclic hydrocarbon group) is obtained by reacting anα-ketoester expressed by R<SP>f</SP>COCO<SB>2</SB>R<SP>1</SP>with a compound expressed by R<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>SiX (X is Cl, Br or I) in the presence of a reducing agent.
