The invention relates to a ventilation device (1) for the discharge pipe (2) for removing a flow medium (3) pumped to a household appliance. A pipe ventilation valve (4) is connected to the discharge pipe (2) by a channel (5) and comprises a valve body (7) which is embodied in the form of a float and makes it possible to close and open the valve. Said valve body (7) is disposed in a float chamber (9) filled with a working medium (8) which is separated from the flow medium (3) and actuates the valve body. The valve body (7) is actuated by transmitting a pneumatic force (23) between the flowing medium (3) and the working medium (8) of the float chamber (9) or between said flowing medium (3) and a sealing surface adjacent to the valve body (7) by means of a pressure medium (6) which is separated from the flowing medium and is closed in the channel (5). The inventive pipe ventilation device makes it possible to avoid a direct contact between the valve body (7) of the pipe ventilation valve (4) and the flowing medium (3), thereby preventing said valve body from being soiled.
