The long gap press to act on a running web, especially of paper, carries the web together with a blanket between a counter roller and a press shoe (1) which is the width of the paper web and is supported on a carrier (5) with channels (5.2) for a pressure medium to act on a number of cylinders (2) in a row across the press width. Each cylinder is around a sleeve (3), to slide on it within a carrier recess. A ring seal (4.1) is between the inner surface of the cylinder and the outer surface of the sleeve.
