PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque detection device allowing easy assembling and firm fixing of a magnetic shield member, and having both a waterproof function and a dustproof function. SOLUTION: In this torque detection device, a permanent magnet 5 and soft magnetic materials 4a, 4b are fixed coaxially respectively to a first shaft 1 and a second shaft 2 connected coaxially with a connection shaft 3 to thereby form a magnetic coupling, and a detector 6 detects an induced magnetic flux of auxiliary soft magnetic materials 8, 8 magnetically coupled with the soft magnetic materials 4a, 4b, and synthetic resin bodies 18a, 18b mold the auxiliary soft magnetic materials 8, 8 and the detector 6, and a magnetic shielding member 27 encloses the synthetic resin body 18b and fastens together the fringe part of an opening part of a stored housing (unillustrated) and the collar part 23 of the synthetic resin body 18b, and a torque applied to the first shaft 1 is detected based on an output from the detector 6. The device has a constitution wherein the magnetic shielding member 27 has a shielding part 27a for shielding the interval between the fringe part of the opening part and the collar part 23, and the shielding part 27a is fastened together between the fringe part and the collar part 23.
