PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the labor saving of work required in the replacement of a cell in a particle size distribution measuring instrument. SOLUTION: The particle size distribution measuring instrument is equipped with a light source 2 for emitting light in a constant direction, a plurality of cells C1 and C2 for housing a particle group S, a cell holding mechanism 7 for holding the cells C1 and C2 in a movable manner and an arithmetic device 5 for calculating the particle size distribution of the particle group S on the basis of the light intensity of diffracted scattered light LS emitted from the particle group S housed in the cells C1 and C2 present at a light irradiation position P. The cell holding mechanism 7 is equipped with a rail member 71 extending along the moving direction of the cells C1 and C2, a cell loading member 72 for mounting the respective cells C1 and C2, a holding body 73 and the elastic member 74 arranged between the cell loading member 72 and the holding body 73. The first contact surface provided to the cell loading member 72 and the second contact surface provided to the holding body 73 are arranged at the positions opposed so as to hold the rail member 71 and the contact surfaces are mutually draw by the elastic return force of the elastic member 74 to be pressed to and brought into contact with the rail member 71 in a movable manner.
