PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable proper detection of flame using emission band, based on water molecules. SOLUTION: This flame detector monitors infrared rays emitted from a surveillance zone. The flame detector determines the existence of flame, based on the received quantities of the infrared ray of a range which uses each or both of the water molecule emission band whose peaks exist at a wavelength close to about 7.5μm and close to about 15μm, and determines the existence of flame, based on receiving quantities of light of infrared rays of range which cuts the valley centered on a wavelength of about 10μm, of both the water molecule emission bands whose peaks exist at a wavelength close to about 7.5μm and close to about 15μm. Thereby, this flame detector has the effect that the detector is hardly relatively affected from a heating object, and that a wrong report is hardly generated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
