PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide particles for a picture display medium, in which softening of the particles at high temperature due to a plasticizing effect of a monomer soluble charge controlling agent is prevented, and which has uniformized charging capacity, by using a copolymerizable monomer with a charged functional group at least in a part of a monomer which is a material for the particles for the picture display medium. SOLUTION: The particles for the picture display medium, in which softening of the particles at high temperature due to the plasticizing effect of the monomer soluble charge controlling agent is prevented, and which has uniformized charging capacity, is obtained by using the particles for the picture display medium, which are nearly spherical particles produced by suspension polymerization of the material for the particles containing the monomer, wherein a part or the entirety of the monomer has the charged functional group and is copolymerizable, as the particles for the picture display medium used for the picture display device, displaying a picture by sealing in at least one or more kinds of picture display mediums 3W, 3B, comprising at least one or more kinds of particles, between two substrates 1, 2 of which at least one is transparent and which are placed opposite to each other, and transferring the picture display media with an electric field generated in the substrates.
