PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device to coat a wire in which positional deviation of the wire is corrected and occurrence of eccentricity after coating is prevented. SOLUTION: A coating line 11 consists of a feeding machine 14 which feeds a POF optical fiber 10, a guide section 15, a coating mechanism 16, water tanks 17 and a take-up machine 18. The coating mechanism 16 consists of a resin coating die 24 and a resin supplying section 25. The guide section 15 consists of columnar guide members which are arranged in a tilted manner so as to have a V-shape each other and guides so as to sandwich the POF optical fiber 10. The fiber 10 which is guided by the guide section 15, is inserted while guided so as to be positioned at the center of the resin coating die 24, and then extruded with resin so as to be coated.
