PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joining structure of a vertical member capable of transmitting a large shearing force when primarily only the shearing force is transmitted and facilitating installation work. SOLUTION: The vertical member 1 comprises an upper member 10 and a lower member 20. An upper member main body 11 of the upper member 10 is provided with a fitting protrusion 12, and a lower member 21 of the lower member 20 is provided with a fitting recess 22. The fitting protrusion 12 is fitted in the fitting recess 22 with their side faces being in contact with each other while they are vertically spaced apart from each other.
